The Story

Kate O'Sullivan

Kate formalised her love of physi in 2006 by opening the Hunters Hill Physi Club.  Having started her career in “physi” as a three year old, she progressed through each age group before joining the “Extended Ladies” section in 2009.

Kate says, “physi is brilliant (low-impact) exercise, but I still really enjoy the excitement and adrenalin that performing in front of an audience brings.  Apart from the physical benefits, physi has made me disciplined, given me confidence and taught me about the importance of teamwork and commitment.  I’ve also met many wonderful people through physi, and formed some lifelong friendships.   Now as a teacher, I get a huge buzz out of seeing my girls and ladies perform and I am extremely proud of each and every one of them. I feel priviliged to be able to put something back into a sport that has given me so much over the years".

Kate has overall responsibility for the Club and teaches all juniors through to 12 year as well as Seniors and Ladies.  In 2011, Kate placed 5th at the NSW State Grand Final and was also a member of the Club's successful Open Senior team.

Elise Bryan

Physi has always played a large part in Elise’s life.  Since beginning as a 3 year old, Elise’s love of Physi has evolved into great success and has also been instrumental in forming many friendships along the way. In 2010, Elise decided to increase her role in the Club and became an affiliated Teacher with responsibility for the 13-14 and 15-16 year age groups.

“I loved the challenge of teaching the 13’s – 16’s group and watching the girls learn and grow.  I feel a great sense of satisfaction and fulfilment that I am able to be part of this process.  Kate has given me a wonderful opportunity to give something back to physi; a sport that I thoroughly enjoy", said Elise.

In 2007, in recognition of her commitment to the Hunters Hill Club, Elise was presented with the prestigious Club Legend Award. In 2008, Elise placed 5th in the Intermediate Senior section at the Edith Parsons State Grand Final and in 2009, 2010 and 2011 she reached the State Grand Final in the elite "Open Senior" section.

Emma Davey

Emma began physi when she was two and continued until she was fifteen. However, as the saying goes, "once a physi girl, always a physi girl" so in 2009 she returned to the sport and became a member of the Hunters Hill Club.  Emma assists Kate each week with the junior girls and has formed many close friendships within our close-knit Club.

I love physi because everyone can do it. Physi is a challenge every time you practice and when you compete its so exciting. Teaching the girls is so much fun because you see their confidence and coordination improve and their true personalities come out.”

Emma is at university studying to be an early childhood and primary school teacher and works part time in an early childhood centre.

In 2011, Emma reached the NSW State Final and was a key part of the Clubs two senior teams, both of whom placed at the State team events.
